LIFT OFF TEACHERS

 pupils with tutor

LIFT OFF relies heavily on the support of the contact teachers in our partner schools. We really appreciate the support we get from you -thank you!

We've been running our current programme since September 2013 and any feedback you have would be fantastic :)

S3

A large, in-school event for all S3 pupils (usually half or a third at a time). Delivered by development workers and student volunteers, it's all about getting pupils to start thinking about available options after school. This fun event usually runs from January to March.

S4

A campus event for core pupils, delivered by LIFT OFF in collaboration with colleagues from partner colleges and univesities. Pupils mix with people from other partner schools and will attend a mini-lecture and seminar at a partner college or university. This event will normally run between September and December.

S5

LO2S! Our summer residential runs TWICE in the summer holidays for core pupils moving from S4 to S5. The event is staffed by LIFT OFF, student leaders and night staff. It's an opportunity for the pupils to visit lots of different colleges and universities and try lots of different subjects.

LOLS - our learning skills programme is credit-rated at Level 6 on the SCQF. Designed to give young people some of the softer skills they'll need for learning at HE (participation, presentation, preparation to name a few), LOLS is delivered in school by post-graduate tutors between September and December, with a visit to a college or university thrown in too. LOLS does involve some time out of class.

S6

Transitions is all about offering meaningful, tailored and personal support to those young people about to make the transition from school to learning at HE. Drawing heavily on the support of our partners, we want to help our core pupils by answering questions and removing some of the fear factor. What we do is really up to them.

All Core Pupils S4 - S6

All of our core pupils have the opportunity (recommended!) to meet individually with someone from the LIFT OFF team. This ensures that we know what their interests are (and if they've changed) and what help they might need. Whether it's exploring course options or institution, working out a 'Plan B' or just knowing where to start, we're there to help. Provided the pupils give us permission (most do) we can also share this information with teachers.LIFT OFF Booklet
