The lowdown on our Senior Students....

The Marvellous Senior Student Volunteers

I am a 3rd year student at St Andrews University studying History. LIFT OFF has been a great experience for me, and I would recommend getting involved to anyone who enjoys working with young people, talking about higher education, and meeting new people.

There are so many different activities to get involved in with LIFT OFF. Perhaps my favourite so far has been the LO2S Residential. You really get an opportunity to bond with the young people, fellow volunteers, and gain a host of new skills. The experience is second-to-none for anyone interested in working with young people, or even people in general, in some capacity after University.

Pupils gain a lot out of the LIFT OFF programme, and we are there to answer their questions and give them an insight into University life. For many pupils, the prospect of going onto Higher Education can be a pretty daunting, so it is great to be a part of developing their confidence and building their excitement.

As a senior student, my goal is simply to act as a liaison between fellow volunteers and the LIFT OFF team, ensuring everyone is happy and having an awesome time. Any questions or problems, Tiffany and I are happy to help in whatever way we can.

Hi! My name is Tiffany, and I’m one of LIFT OFF's Senior Student Volunteers. I’m a third year student, studying Business at Abertay University.

I have enjoyed working with Lift Off for several years now. The best part of it is helping the pupils at the different events, and helping them realise their full potential. Another rewarding part of LIFT OFF is working with the staff and the other student volunteers, especially when we bond and encourage each other to do our best.

This is by far one of my happiest activities to do, and it helps me become a better person as I grow in confidence due to the support that is given.
