LOLS Campus Events 2018

LIFT OFF Learning Skills (LOLS for short) is an optional part of the LIFT OFF programme for our S5 pupils and has been designed to give pupils a feel of what being a student at college/university is like - as well as giving them 3 SCQF Level 6 points. Pupils must manage their time appropriately; make sure they do the reading for all sessions; access and read academic articles; discuss ideas in smaller groups and experience lectures in larger spaces and, maybe the biggest challenge, to develop and deliver a presentation to an audience.

At the LOLS Campus Events, pupils are given a day in the life of a student - they get to experience a lecture from a university/college lecturer; have a look around a live university/college campus and work together to deliver their findings on the course content in their presentation. Pupils are assessed on this, their participation in the sessions leading up to this point and a reflective logbook, looking at their learner journey from the start to the end of the LOLS course.

On Thursday 1 and Friday 2 December, pupils from all 12 of our schools in all 3 regions visited Abertay University and D&A College respectively to complete their LOLS course and enjoy a day out of school putting what they have learned over the course of the five sessions to good use!

Now that the LIFT OFF staff have some to do all of the fun stuff - we love paperwork! - we are looking forward to sharing the good news to those who have passed the course through their hard work, resilience and determination. Take a look at the dates below and remember that LIFT OFF will be coming into school to see you to let you know how you did! We'll be giving you your feedback individually but have some evaluation forms to fill out as a group so expect to be out the for the allotted time below.
