September Update!

And just as soon as it arrived, summer is officially over! Get ready for darker nights, warm socks and pumpkin flavoured everything - yum! Not only that, but autumn brings even more fabulous opportunities for our young people!

We have been in schools promoting LIFT OFF Learning Skills to our S5 pupils. This exciting opportunity is a chance to develop the skills that universities and colleges look for in their applicants such as team working, analytical and critical thinking, presentation skills and many more. Not only will our pupils be putting these skills to the test but they will be graded on them - with the chance to pass the LOLS programme and achieve actual credit points to go towards their applications - the same level as a Higher! We wish all our S5s who are taking part this year the best of luck, your tutors will be there to guide you every step of the way! We're sure you'll all ace it!

Another exciting development in the LIFT OFF programme, new for 2017/18 is our work with S6s - as it gets more and more about your oncoming transition to HE we thought that we could help you with all things to do with your application and, eventual move to college or university!

Session 1, which we started delivering in Beath, looks at how to apply to university through UCAS and college as well as getting started on your personal statement.

Session 2 will focus on editing your personal statements, so make sure you start it now so we can help you before your school's deadline!

Session 3 will take place after the Christmas Holidays and will be discussing things like UCAS Extra, clearing, accommodation (for those moving away), funding and bursaries, as well as budgeting and independent living tips. We are looking forward to getting into school and helping you make sense of everything before you set off on your HE journey!

Remember, if you have any questions in the meantime you can get us through Facebook, Twitter or email - - and if we don't know the answer, we will know someone who will!

See you all soon!
